Overview Of Our Ads This Month

RETARGETING ADS

Dillon and I rarely run retargeting ads - Our objective when running ads is usually to acquire new leads. When we launched Ads Magic, however, we decided to experiment with just a few ads to our existing email subscribers.

We ran them with an extremely low budget (we know most of our existing email subscribers are NEW entrepreneurs and not ready for this product yet, so we didn't want to go crazy running ads to people who may not even benefit from Ads Magic). Each retargeting ad linked right to our sales page with the goal of making a sale.

OBJECTIVE:

Since we were only running these ads for 3 days, we wanted them to be able to exit the learning phase quickly, so we set the ad up with the objective as “clicks” instead of “purchase,” and then went in manually to roughly calculate the cost per purchase of each ad.

PLACEMENTS:

We threw these ads up very quickly and used Auto-Placements (which we never use) to help drive our cost per 1000 reached down since we were running ads to such a small audience (relative to the 3M audience we recommend). Smaller audiences always drives UP your cost per 1000 reached, so we wanted to do whatever we could to help offset that.

FREQUENCY:

With retargeting ads that you are running for a short period of time, you don't worry as much about frequency - you actually WANT a high frequency (which is different than normal lead ads or ads you plan on leaving on long-term). Our frequency was 4.40, but this worked to our advantage.

RESULTS:

We spent a total of $316.70 on retargeting ads over three days and our sales page had a conversion rate of 6%. So for $316.70 we got a total of 162 clicks to the sales page and 9 Ads Magic sales (which is $603 in month-one sales). Meaning our day-one ROI was 190%, with a net profit of $287 (not including future membership payments).
